1). My six-year-old daughter and I got this book,
Magic in the Alley by Mary Calhoun, in the mail this week from the lovely Wendy at
Blog from the Windowsill, a fellow participant in
MotherReader's 48-hour reading challenge. Well technically we didn't get the book -- we got a photocopy of the entire book -- but a very well put together photocopy with a color cover and sturdy binding. It was one of Wendy's favorite books as a child and she wanted to share it with others as she feels it's under-appreciated! Thanks, Wendy!
2)This, I would like to say, is a travesty. If you can't read the words on the yellow ribbon, let me just highlight them for you here. "NOW HELPS SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S IMMUNITY." That's right -- what's the best way to strengthen your child's immune system? Start their day off with Rice Krispies. Marion Nestle, Mark Bittman, Michael Pollan, and Morgan Spurlock are crying in their sleep, with all due respect (and in my world, they are all due quite a bit of it.)
P.S. I wrote this before I even knew that Bittman had
already commented on this. Warms a blogger's heart.
This, however, I did know about.
