The Simple Woman's Daybook -- January 8, 2010

Hosted by Peggy.

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...  the last mild day for a while, I think...

I am thinking... that I have no idea where my cell phone is.

I am thankful for... how well my time with Jeremy went yesterday & for the hope that creates.

From the kitchen... grilled cheese, snow peas and lots of water to drink.

I am wearing... white and pink striped flannel pants from a clothes swap and a very old navy T-shirt from Case Western (where I've never been).

I am creating... a butterfly cross-stitch for my daughter.

I am going... to need to stay home from the clothes swap tomorrow -- puking daughter.

I am reading...100 Cupboards  by N.D. Wilson -- my daughter and I are reading this together and a day being sick in bed is pushing us steadily toward the end!

I am hoping... to avoid getting sick, but we'll see if I can succeed in that endeavor...

I am hearing... occasional quiet coughing from the sleeping six-year-old at my side and what I think is the furnace.

Around the house... a fair bit of vomiting and a backpack to unpack from our trip to Indiana.

One of my favorite things...watching my daughter be a kind and supportive friend.

A few plans for the rest of the week: getting everyone in the house well, divorce mediation with my husband on Friday morning, and hopefully at least one of the activities at my daughter's school (PTA and Winter Ball), if not both.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...(add your picture here)

Henry flopped down beside her, and the two of them stared at the little cupboard doors.

This will be my next read with my daughter when we finish The Cricket on the Hearth.  It was a Christmas present to her from our friend Becca.

and all is well.  I'm home, I'm safe, I have clean clothes on a clean body, Nico the cat is at my side and I'm ready for bed.  I slept more on this train trip than ever before -- making up for all the nights I couldn't sleep while in Indiana, I guess.  Tomorrow I'll take care of Mark and Lilly in the morning and Fiona will be home after school.

I'm so thankful for the time I spent in my home state and for the people I was able to spend time with.  I wasn't sure how it would feel to be back home in Colorado, but right now it feels right.

I left my fleece hat on the train -- I'd had it since the mid-90s.  I hope that somebody finds it and uses it for another 15 years.  I did a fair bit of reading while I was in Indiana but even more cross-stitching.  I'm almost half done with the cross-stitch I'm making for my daughter.  I keep thinking I'll post a picture.

I was able to visit my brother in prison twice.  It was hard to leave him there, but good to be able to talk to him and hug him.

Blessings to you all on this fine Colorado evening.

I'm traveling today

via Amtrak from Indiana to Colorado.   I've had time with friends and with family and a bit of alone time as well.  Leaving here, much like being here, will be bittersweet.  It's a comfort to know that I have people in Colorado who love me and I am looking forward to reconnecting with them (you know who you are).  I've been telling myself that, until I returned to CO, it was okay to not think much past the end of February.  As I am on the train today, however, I know that my thoughts will be returning to the future, to mull over possibilities and potentialities.  I will be thinking about hard facts and harder emotions.  I will be thinking about paperwork and laundry, about clothes swaps and mediation, about sore muscles and doctor appointments.  About apartments, housemates, car-pooling and health.  About court dates and cross-stitch.  About old friends and new.  About worries and joys.  I am thankful for the goodness.  I am trying hard to keep learning about myself and thinking about the self I want to be.  Here comes 2011.

Tomorrow Will Come

Life contains many positive experiences.
The good is on its way.
No doubt about it, tomorrow will come.

Quote of the day

You are much more than the emotional wound you are currently suffering.  Don't lose sight of that.

Beneath the surface turmoil:

--you are good
--you are whole
--you are beautiful

just because you are.
