I first heard James Howard Kunstler's name when someone sent me a link to his TED video several years ago. World by Hand & The Witch of Hebron are the first two novels in what may end up being a four book series and the first books I've read by Kunstler. Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
From World Made by Hand:
"You hear the one about the farmer was milking and a fly went in one of the cow's ear 'n out th' udder?" was a typical Minorism, as the other men called his constant banter. Joseph and Elam carried rifles, and Seth wore a sword, a saber, some kind of museum piece he had come across in their journeys. (p.124)
From The Witch of Hebron:
The doctor knocked back what was left in his glass and gave the dog a long look. "My boy loved that dog very much and I did, too." (p. 22)
