The read-a-thon is quickly approaching. Some books that are on the list of possible reads:
While I Was Gone by Sue Miller (recommended by my friend Jessica)
Crunchy Cons: How Birkenstocked Burkeans, Gun-loving Organic Gardeners, Evangelical Free-Range Farmers, Hip Homeschooling Mamas, Right-Wing Nature Lovers, and Their Diverse Tribe of Countercultural Conservatives Plan to Save America (or at Least the Republican Party) by Rod Dreher (should be an interesting read)
100 Ways America Is Screwing Up the World by John Tirman (you know, for when I want something cheery)
Everyday Blessings: the Inner Work of Mindful Parenting by Myla and Jon Kabat-Zinn (has been on my shelf for a while)
The Shack by Wm Paul Young (if Jeremy and I get a chance to read aloud together)
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (a re-read for me)
The Norton Book of American Short Stories edited by Peter S. Prescott (thought this one would be good for breaks between books)
When Someone You Love Is Depressed: How to Help Your Loved One without Losing Yourself by Laura Epstein Rosen, Ph.D., and Xavier Francisco Amador, Ph.D. (this has been sitting on my shelf for quite a while as well)
Everything Must Change: Jesus, Global Crises, and a Revolution of Hope by Brian D. McLaren (another re-read)
School of Fear by Gitty Daneshvari (for Fiona and I to read together during the read-a-thon)
It's a fairly diverse list of books that made it onto my TBR pile for various reasons. I may read others that are not on the list, but I hope to read at least five on the "set-aside specifically for the read-a-thon pile" before I move to something else. We'll see. :)
You've got quite a list there! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm your new follower!
ReplyDeleteThe title of the first book cracked me up, can't wait for a review on it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Chelle -- How fun to have a new follower. Maybe I should come over and follow you, too. :) I definitely like the look of your blog -- I'm still deciding if mine is too busy or not.
ReplyDeleteLizzie, sadly, I'm not sure I'm going to get to it for the read-a-thon. We'll see, though -- I'll put it next on the informal "next" list. :)
