Teaser Tuesdays -- The Case of the Gypsy Good-bye by Nancy Springer

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme hosted by MizB @ Should Be Reading. To participate, all you have to do is the following:

  • Grab your current/upcoming read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share 2-3 "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • Be careful not to include spoilers!

". . . that obliged to you for coming . . . "

"Nonsense."  Shrinking, as usual, from any display of emotion, Sherlock Holmes studies the dark woodwork of Ferndell Hall. I welcome the opportunity to visit my ancestral home."

This is the sixth in the Enola Holmes (the much younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft) series.  I've read the others, but this is the first I've read with my seven-year-old.  I usually like the storyline and characters, but am always taken slightly aback at the occasional reference to "ladies of the night" or similar things.  Fiona enjoyed this one and is ready to go back and read the rest of the series.
