What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?

So Marc and Angel Hack Life had a blog post recently that asked 365 "thought-provoking questions".  I've picked some of the ones that stood out to me and hope to occasionally use them as writing prompts.

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?

I would get tattoos that I loved wherever I wanted to with no concern for whether they are easy to hide with clothing (let's be frank, I may just do this anyway, or would if I had a tattoo line item in my budget).

I would experiment with make-up more than I do.

I would joyfully sing along to any song that I love, regardless of where I was when it started playing (and music is not where my talents lay -- but I have many songs that I love and singing along to them makes me happy).

I would cut & dye my own hair all the time just for fun and as a creative outlet -- regardless of what the end result seemed like to others.

I would have physical contact with others more often -- hugs, a hand on a shoulder, sitting close together.

It's funny to me how much of my list is appearance related -- I don't think of appearance being a thing I think about a whole lot.   I have a feeling I could make a much longer list given time.

How about you?  What things are on your list?

  1. Take more personal time. It's not as simple as being judged there though, because the kids see it as needing me.

Strangely, I don't think there's much I'd do because I don't care all that much about people judging me. There are other obstacles, but that's rarely one of them.

  2. I think that there are a lot of things I would feel more free about doing...it's interesting that you mentioned the tattoos...I've been thinking a lot about getting tattoos and I think it's one of those things that has nothing to do with other people judging me; I just want to like the way my body looks in 20 years, when my tattoos are 20 years old!

  3. Lisa, more personal time makes sense to me.

Tam, a lot of the places I've thought about getting a tattoo don't have a lot of flesh (ie, near my hand/wrist/foot... Wonder what kind of difference position makes as one ages...
