I read The Owl & Moon Cafe this book several years ago and re-read it this week for October's book club. I was happy to re-read it and experience the four-generation, female-heavy cast of characters all over again.
The book opens with Mariah Moon, who has just lost her job as a college professor. We soon meet Gammy, Mariah's grandmother, Allegra, Mariah's mother, and Lindsay, Mariah's twelve-year-old daughter. The women own and run The Owl and Moon Cafe in the Monterey Bay area in California -- which means you will find yourself wishing for a personal chef whipping things up in your kitchen the whole time you are reading.
This book contains hope of all different kinds and hope of all different kinds is exactly what I need in my life right now. Besides, who doesn't love a man with a Scottish accent?
